Out of all the tickets sold in Europe, a single player from Austria matched all the numbers. They had purchased their entry online, so there was no danger of them missing out on the prize. The jackpot was more than double the amount that had ever been won in Austria before.
The big win happened in the first draw at the jackpot cap, so it could have stayed at that value much closer to Christmas before it had to be won.
The EuroMillions jackpot reached its limit (at the time) of 230 million Euros ahead of the draw on Friday 8th July, where it remained until Tuesday 19th July when one lucky ticket sold in the UK scooped the entire prize.
The winner claimed their money quickly but no more information was released as they decided not to go public.
If the jackpot had not been won in this draw, a Must Be Won draw would have taken place in the subsequent draw.
EuroMillions set its third record in less than a year when a €220 million jackpot was won in October 2021, following a Superdraw in late September when the top prize got boosted to €130 million.

The jackpot was claimed by Joe and Jess Thwaite of Gloucester. They revealed that they still went to work on the day they found out, and decided to go public because they did not want to ‘burden’ others with having to keep their secret.

Few details are known about the winner, other than the fact that they purchased their ticket online in German-speaking Switzerland. The lucky winner purchased two tickets at a total cost of CHF 7.00. The new record jackpot winner won more than 32.8 million times their original stake.
