EuroMillions Jackpot Winners
The EuroMillions jackpot had not previously been won in consecutive draws for almost six months, dating back to when a Spanish player landed €65.4 million (£58.6 million) on Tuesday 24th October 2017 and then a UK ticket holder won £15 million (€17 million) in the following draw on Friday 27th October.
Belgium’s EuroMillions Success
There have now been five jackpot winners in 2018, while Belgium has crowned 30 winners of the top prize in total. It is the fifth most successful country in EuroMillions, behind France (87), Spain (85), the UK (71) and Portugal (67), but has enjoyed a particularly good run of big winners over the past couple of years.
Belgian winners have 20 weeks to come forward and claim prizes, and even if the lucky players decide to remain anonymous the Belgian National Lottery has been known to release small snippets of information about their lives and how they plan to use their new-found wealth.
Belgium’s biggest winner declared that he would ‘share his win with people in need’ when he pocketed €168 million in October 2016, while a Flemish man who won €153.8 million on Friday 2nd June 2017 said that he wanted to help his children and make charitable donations, as well as buying a new car and spending money on home renovations.
Next Draw
EuroMillions players from Antwerp to Zurich can now look forward to the next draw on Friday night, when the jackpot will stay at its base level of €17 million (£14 million). If you reckon the top prize might just be won for a third straight draw, you can go to an authorised retailer in a participating country or take part online. Looking further ahead, a EuroMillions Superdraw on Friday 20th April will also increase the jackpot to a stupendous €130 million (£113 million). Good luck!
