The top prize has been building quickly since a Superdraw took place on 24th September, pushing up from €130 million to its maximum amount in just over a fortnight.

New Record Jackpot: €220 Million
The jackpot hit its cap on Tuesday 12th October after nobody won in the previous draw, setting up the prospect of a new record for the largest EuroMillions win in history. A Swiss player previously banked €210 million back in February, and the jackpot cap was subsequently adjusted to €220 million.
When the jackpot cap is in effect, no more money can be added to the top prize. The percentage of the prize fund that would normally go to this top category is instead given to the Match 5 + 1 Lucky Star tier. This creates a significantly larger prize fund than usual for winners in the second level.
How Long Will the Jackpot Be Capped?
The jackpot can only stay at its cap for a maximum of four draws, before it must be won in the fifth draw at that value. It could therefore be that the jackpot remains high for some time yet.
Here’s how the next few draws could unfold in the lead-up to a potential Must Be Won draw, if there continue to be no jackpot winners:
- First draw at the jackpot cap: Tuesday 12th October
- Second draw at the jackpot cap: Friday 15th October
- Third draw at the jackpot cap: Tuesday 19th October
- Fourth draw at the jackpot cap: Friday 22nd October
- Fifth draw at the cap - the jackpot must be won: Tuesday 26th October
If there has to be a Must Be Won draw, the jackpot will definitely be paid out even if there are no tickets that are an exact match for all seven numbers. In this scenario, the full €220 million will be shared between all the players in the highest prize tier where there is at least one winer.
Once the maximum jackpot has been won and resets to €17 million, the cap will be increased by €10 million. This can continue to happen until the cap reaches €250 million, according to the current rules.
