Superdraws only take place a few times a year and are eagerly awaited by fans across Europe, as the jackpot is bumped up to nine figures regardless of how much lower it is in the preceding draw.
The great benefit here is that you don’t have to wait for a run of rollovers before there is a colossal prize to play for.
Apart from the enhanced jackpot, Superdraws work just the same as regular draws. There is no additional cost to take part, the chances of winning are just the same, and the top prize can roll over if nobody wins.
There were four Superdraws in 2022. The first was won on the night, by a UK player, and the next three all rolled over to set up even larger jackpots in the next draw.
Superdraws have helped to create some of the biggest wins in EuroMillions history. When the June Superdraw rolled over last year, the jackpot went on to reach a record amount of €230 million a few weeks later. An anonymous ticket holder from the UK eventually snapped up all the money (worth £195.7 million) in July.
The jackpot cap was raised from €230 million to €240 million after that record UK win, so there is a chance a new high mark could be set this year.
Luckiest Countries
Players in all nine participating countries will be dreaming of success in the Super Jackpot event. France and the UK have historically produced the most winners, but all nine nations have celebrated jackpot joy in the past.
The chances of winning are exactly the same wherever you buy your ticket, as the odds are based on the possible number combinations and not your location. Luxembourg, for example, may have only had three previous jackpot winners, but that is because it has a considerably smaller population and therefore far fewer tickets are sold in the country than elsewhere.
The only way to boost your chances of winning is to enter more lines. You may decide to use random numbers, study the statistics, or tweak your favourite line to create more sets. In some countries, you can play a ‘system’, where you choose more than five main numbers (or two Lucky Stars) and the computer automatically generates every valid combination within your selected set.
