Powell had wanted to purchase a EuroMillions ticket for a Friday draw, but a store employee instead mistakenly gave him one for the following game, on Tuesday 24th November. Powell admits he spent the whole weekend ‘cursing’ the Co-op worker, but he soon forgave her after winning the Millionaire Maker prize.
The 50-year-old plans to carry on driving his truck for a living and will give most of his winnings to his three sons and other family members, although he will splash out £38 on a nail gun for himself. According to the Mirror, Powell said: “To think I have won it twice is just unbelievable. It's the stuff of dreams. Everyone is taking the mickey out of me because I don't want anything. But I'm happy as long as everyone else is. She's got her car, I've got the nail gun.”
Speaking about the mix-up at the store, Powell added: “I thought I had bought a Lucky Dip for that Friday (20th November) but the lady in the shop got her dates mixed up. I'm so glad she did.I was really annoyed about it. I wanted to have a go on the £119 million EuroMillions rollover. I spent the whole weekend cursing her but that's the reason I won."
Having won two great lottery prizes, Powell believes he now ‘just needs to win the big one’, and it may well be that he picks up another ticket for tonight’s EuroMillions draw, when a fantastic jackpot of £44 million (€62 million) will be up for grabs. The last draw on Tuesday produced a fifth successive rollover since a single participant from Portugal scooped €163.5 million (£114.8 million) on Friday 20th November.
You can find details of all the recent draws in the EuroMillions Results section to find out if you might be due a prize, and then just make sure you enter in time for this evening’s game. Tickets can be picked up online or from authorised retailers in any of the nine participating countries, and it could be that you win enough money to give up your job or just buy a nail gun. Best of luck!
