Tuesday’s €168 Million Belgian EuroMillions Winner Claims Prize

A father of four from Brussels has come forward to collect the €168 million jackpot from Tuesday night’s EuroMillions draw. The man, who is said to work for the Belgian capital’s waste management service, spent €15 on tickets for the draw and has pledged to donate a proportion of his windfall to charity.

The lucky participant is Belgium’s 26th, and biggest, EuroMillions winner, claiming the fifth largest jackpot in the game’s 12-year history. He bought his winning entry at the Librairie de l’Europe shop in the Schaerbeek district of Brussels and discovered his good fortune when checking the EuroMillions results for Tuesday 11th October online.

The man is described as being of Albanian origin and told Belgian National Lottery officials that he loved football, Robert De Niro films and cooking with fish. Neighbours described him as “friendly” and “loved” in the local area. He said he would continue to play EuroMillions and that he wished to share his win with “people in need”.

The latest EuroMillions multimillionaire was the first jackpot winner since the game rules changed on Saturday 24th September, with the prize boosted thanks to a Superdraw the following Friday. The enhanced £112.6 million (€130 million) jackpot from that special draw rolled three times before the Belgian ticket holder matched all five main numbers and two Lucky Stars on Tuesday night to bank a life-changing €168 million.

Tonight’s EuroMillions jackpot is worth £15 million (€17 million) and you can play EuroMillions online or get hold of tickets at authorised retailers across the nine participating countries.
