EuroMillions Player From Luxembourg Sets New National Record

Luxembourg celebrated a rare EuroMillions jackpot win in the latest draw on Tuesday night, as a player from the country pocketed €83 million. It is the largest lottery prize ever to be won in Luxembourg.

The jackpot had surged past €80 million following a run of six rollovers, but a single ticket proved to be a perfect match at the seventh time of asking. The numbers drawn on Tuesday 28th November were 12, 16, 27, 33 and 44, plus Lucky Stars 7 and 8.

It was announced shortly after the draw that the winning entry was sold in Luxembourg. Go to the EuroMillions Results page to see a full prize breakdown for each country.

Luxembourg’s Biggest EuroMillions Moment

As the smallest participating country in EuroMillions, it is no surprise that Luxembourg has had the fewest winners as ticket sales are lower than elsewhere.

Tuesday’s win marked only the fourth time in EuroMillions history that Luxembourg has had a winner. Relative to their population, that is still a strong performance, but the tiny nation has had to wait a long time between jackpot successes.

The most recent win in Luxembourg came in January 2020, when someone scooped €28 million. They came forward just a week later and decided to remain anonymous.

Previously, a Luxembourgian had won €31 million in January 2015. The country’s first win, back in September 2013, had been worth €65 million. That remained the national record for more than 10 years until Tuesday’s historic moment.

The lucky player now has 60 days to make their claim. They can go public with their win if they wish, or the national lottery will help them to keep their identity private.

Mega Jackpot Up Next

The jackpot would usually reset to its starting amount of €17 million after a win, but up next on Friday there is a Superdraw.

Instead of dropping down, the jackpot will therefore be boosted to €200 million (approximately £173 million).

Your chances of winning are exactly the same wherever you buy a ticket, so players from London to Luxembourg will be hoping to land one of the game’s biggest jackpots. Choose your numbers online or buy a ticket from an authorised retailer in one of the participating countries.
