First EuroMillions Superdraw in 2024 Confirmed

Start the new year with an impressive jackpot worth a guaranteed €130 million! The first EuroMillions Superdraw will be held on Friday 26th January 2024 across all nine participating countries.

Not long has passed since the last EuroMillions Superdraw took place in December 2023, and the lottery officials have already announced the date of the next special event. The most recent Superdraw was a memorable one as the biggest jackpot in the history of the game, worth €240 million, was won by a single ticket holder from Austria. Moreover, the jackpot cap was raised to the maximum amount of €250 million.

But what happens if the jackpot cap is reached? First of all, the jackpot will need to roll quite a few times before getting from €130 million to €250 million. Then, the grand prize will be stopped from growing any further and will be kept at that amount for four consecutive draws. In case it’s not won in the fifth and final draw, the full amount will be split between the winners that match five main numbers and one Lucky Star. This is called a Must Be Won draw.

A Short History of Superdraws

EuroMillions Superdraws were first launched in 2007 and offer players a chance to win a boosted jackpot. Since 2020 they have become regular events organised by all the participating countries and there have been at least four every year. The increased amount is always guaranteed as the jackpot fund is subsidised by the EuroMillions Reserve Fund which gets 10% of the Common Prize Fund with each regular draw that takes place.

The upcoming Superdraw which will happen on Friday 26th January 2024 is the 42nd draw of this kind. No other draw has been held this early before as most first draws of the year happen in February or March.

One interesting pattern we can notice is the fact that the grand prize is rarely won on the night of the Superdraw. The jackpot was won on a first try only 13 times and it usually rolls over before it finds its lucky winner or winners.

There’s also no way to find out in which country the winning ticket will be sold. However, based on ticket sales and out of pure luck, some countries seem to have been luckier than others. The UK holds the first place with 14 Superdraw jackpot wins, followed by 10 in Spain, six in France, five in Belgium, and three in Portugal. Austria, Ireland and Switzerland have two winners each.

Want to make 2024 your year? Mark your calendars for Friday 26th January 2024 and enter EuroMillions for a chance to win this amazing jackpot. Until then, you can still enter the usual draws which happen on Tuesday and Friday evenings.
