How to Play Thunderball

To play Thunderball, select five main numbers from 1 to 39 and a Thunderball number between 1 and 14. The Thunderball is drawn from a separate set so the same number can appear twice. You can choose your own numbers or request a random selection via a Lucky Dip.

Decide how many lines to play and specify which draw days you want to enter. You can play up to four consecutive weeks. It costs £1 per entry and you can either play online or via National Lottery retailers in the UK.

All of the prize amounts in Thunderball are fixed, so you receive the advertised amount regardless of how many other winners there are. There is a prize capping rule which allows for payouts to be reduced in exceptional circumstances. However, this only takes effect if the total value due to be paid out is more than four times the total value of entries for a particular draw, which is extremely rare.

As the prizes are fixed, it also means that the jackpot stays the same in every draw and does not roll over if there are no winners.
