A single ticket scooped the €15,000,000 EuroMillions jackpot on Friday 30 May by matching the main numbers of 05, 07, 14, 20 and 49 as well as both Lucky Stars, which were 02 and 08.
For those who haven’t heard of the terms, a hot number is one that has been drawn more often than others, and a cold number is one that has been drawn less often. The hot numbers at the time of writing are 50, 03, 12, 01 and 37. Hot Lucky Stars are 06 and 01. The cold numbers are currently 46, 28, 39, 20 and 24, and the cold Lucky Stars are 02 and 04.
Of course, when you consider the chances of winning from a purely statistical point of view, it doesn’t really matter which numbers you choose, because every line has a 1 in 76,275,360 chance of matching all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars. That said, there is no harm in entering EuroMillions using hot and cold numbers, so if the idea appeals to you, go for it – and good luck!
