EuroMillions Jackpot Races Towards New Record

The EuroMillions jackpot is heading towards record territory following another rollover in the latest draw. Nobody has won the top prize since 18th March and it now stands on the brink of passing €200 million.

A jackpot of £146 million (€174 million) was up for grabs on Tuesday 3rd May. More than 2.4 million prizes were paid out across the nine participating countries, but none of the 33,234,539 entries into the draw were a perfect match for the winning numbers - 8, 20, 26, 47 and 48, plus Lucky Stars 3 and 8. See a full breakdown of the EuroMillions Results.

With ticket sales set to surge all over Europe, the estimated jackpot for Friday night is £164 million (€195 million). It will be the fourth-largest prize ever seen in the lottery.

Jackpot Could Reach €230 Million

The current record for the biggest EuroMillions win is €220 million. It was set just a few months ago, when a young woman from Tahiti in French Polynesia struck lucky with her first-ever ticket.

Following that win, the jackpot cap was increased to €230 million. If the top prize goes on to reach its limit, it will then be fixed at that value for a maximum of five draws before it has to be won. The excess amount that would normally be added on top will filter down to players in the Match 5+1 category.

At its current rate of growth, the jackpot cap could be activated after just a couple more rollovers.

How to Win EuroMillions

You need to match all five main numbers (from 1 to 50) and both Lucky Stars (from 1 to 12) to win the EuroMillions jackpot, and everyone has their own strategy for how to pick numbers.

It may be that you have your favourite numbers, or perhaps you prefer to use a random selection. Another method is to study the latest statistics to see which numbers have been drawn frequently, infrequently or are overdue.

The only way to boost your odds of winning is to purchase multiple lines. Joining a syndicate is a great way to own a share of more entries whilst also keeping costs down. You can team up with friends, family members or work colleagues to play EuroMillions.

Regardless of how you play, you need to be in the draw to have a chance of winning. Even if you don’t land the jackpot, there are 12 other prize categories for matching fewer than all the numbers. Make sure you don’t miss out on one of the biggest draws in history.
