EuroMillions.com readers will be interested to note that this biggest jackpot-winner in history bought her life-changing EuroMillions ticket online. If that doesn’t inspire you to play EuroMillions online then nothing will!
The record for a single win in EuroMillions was finally broken last Friday 8 May, 2009 when a single ticket holder in Spain scooped €126 million (around £113 million). It has been speculated that the ticket might belong to a lottery syndicate, but that doesn't change the fact that we not only have a new EuroMillions record but a new world record for the biggest individual ticket win of all time!
Regular readers will already know that the €126 million jackpot reached those dizzy heights thanks in no small part to six consecutive EuroMillions rollovers. Every week for the past few weeks we have been wondering ‘Will it be won this week?’ and finally the inevitable win has taken place. This means that the EuroMillions jackpot has now been reset to €15 million (around £13 million) for the next draw.
The EuroMillions results for last Friday 8 May were 4, 23, 24, 29 and 31, and the two all-important Lucky Star numbers were 8 and 9. The winner in Spain beat odds of 1 in 76 million to match all of those numbers, and in doing so they beat the biggest previous record for an individual ticket win, which has stood at £81 million since that prize was won in the Italian Superenalotto game in October, 2008.
The biggest individual EuroMillions jackpot winner until last Friday was Dolores McNamara from Eire. Dolores won €115 million (which, at the time, was worth around £77 million) in July 2005.
In addition to the jackpot winner who is rightfully getting all of the headlines, a further 17 players successfully matched five main numbers and one Lucky Star to and thereby won €374,083 (around £335,622) each. Another 25 players matched the five main numbers but no Lucky Star numbers and won €72,188 (around £64,766) each. In told, over 3.35 million prizes were won last Friday, so there was plenty of celebrating all round!
Even though the EuroMillions jackpot has been reset, there is still everything to play for, and it would be difficult to find a better way of winning €15 million or more for such a small outlay! If the record-breaking win in Spain has inspired you to try your own luck at becoming a EuroMillions jackpot winner yourself, play EuroMillions online today and let’s hope that some of that Spanish luck is catching!
