All we know so far about the mysterious buyer of the winning Euromillions ticket is that they purchased their ticket from a shop in the Stevenage and Hitchin area and despite numerous appeals, including a billboard campaign in Hitchin Market Square, the winner has yet to come forward. It could be that the winner was not even from this area; maybe they were driving through on the A1(M) from Peterborough or St Neots to London and stopped off for a snack and bought a ticket. Or maybe they were visiting friends or family in the area and bought a bottle of wine or some chocolates, and a Euromillions ticket.
It may help to think back to the start of June. Number 1 in the Top 40 was “Feel The Love” by Rudimental, and Gary Barlow’s collaboration with the Military Wives, “Sing” had entered the charts at Number 8. Britain was gripped by Olympics fever, with the games just seven weeks away, and the Queen’s birthday celebrations had seen the Royal Flotilla on the River Thames just the weekend before.
So, if any of this rings a bell, or you know of family or friends in the area who may have a ticket they have not checked, get on the phone to them now! As you or someone you know could be in for a fantastic Christmas present.
