Superdraws are not always won in the first instance. For example, in 2024 there was only one win in the initial Superdraw. This was when a Spanish player won €130 million on 15th March 2024.
For the other draws of that year, the jackpot kept rising until it was eventually won by some incredibly lucky players: One from Spain, one from Portugal, and one which was split between an English and Spanish player.
Superdraws only occur a few times a year, read on to learn more about how they work…
Superdraws Explained
You may be wondering what makes Superdraws so special? Well, it means that winners are guaranteed a large jackpot right from the start - it doesn’t matter how much the top prize has rolled over like other EuroMillions draws.
The Superdraw boosts the jackpot to €130 million regardless of what it was previously - for example the jackpot in the last draw was €17 million which means it has multiplied by almost eight times that amount! It then continues to rise from there until it is finally won or reaches its cap of €250 million!
Superdraws take place once there is enough money in the EuroMillions reserve fund. This money is received from the common prize fund of the first five draws in a series (10%) and then 18% is taken from every draw after that until the jackpot is won.
So what happens now? The Superdraw may be over but that just means there is even more to be won in the next draw! The jackpot now rises to €143 million (£120 million). You can take part by purchasing tickets online.
