Beverley matched the numbers 19, 25, 33, 36 and 48, with Lucky Stars 2 and 9, to become the second big winner from the UK in as many draws, after a jackpot of £39.9 million was split with a player from Belgium last Tuesday. She admits that it took some time for the news to sink in when she checked the results in bed on Saturday morning, but she did rush in to tell her eldest son.
She explained: “He was asleep but I was shouting, 'I’ve won the Euros! I’m a millionaire!' All he came back with was 'What you on about?' It was crazy, my head was spinning and nothing made any sense! I tried to call my mum but she was in the shower. It was like a rollercoaster and still is to be honest.”
Having given up her job as a receptionist a couple of years ago after two of her kids were diagnosed with autism, Beverley is now looking forward to a bright future for her whole family. She currently lives in a council house, but says she will now be able to upgrade to a nice big home in the same area, so that her children can keep going to the same school. Beverley has already begun looking online, and also celebrated the win with a shopping spree and a stay in a four-star hotel.
If you would like to become a multimillionaire like Beverley, there will be another EuroMillions draw to look forward to on Friday night, with a jackpot of £24 million on offer. If you are feeling lucky, you can either choose your numbers online or go to an authorised retailer in any of the nine participating countries.
