UK Player Wins Sixth-Biggest EuroMillions Jackpot Ever

A single ticket holder from the United Kingdom matched all the numbers in Tuesday’s EuroMillions draw to land a jackpot worth £177 million (€212 million), making them the sixth-biggest winner in the game’s history.

A run of 14 draws without a winner had lifted the top prize into the top 10 of all time and left it on the brink of a new record. Another couple of rollovers would have pushed it to the jackpot cap of €250 million.

Instead, one lucky entry - out of the 38.4 million submitted across Europe - proved to be a perfect match for the winning numbers. The numbers drawn were 7, 11, 25, 31 and 40, with Lucky Stars 9 and 12.

More than 3.1 million players picked up prizes, with big wins in all nine participating countries, but the glory went to the UK ticket holder who banked the extraordinary nine-figure jackpot. Find out all the draw details, including the results of all the associated games that took place throughout the continent.

For anyone who won a prize, the next step is to come forward and claim it. The deadline is different in each nation, but in the UK it is 180 days. The UK National Lottery announced on Thursday that a claim had been staked, less than 48 hours after the draw. A validation process will now be carried out before the money can be paid out.

Go to the page on Claiming Prizes to find out what you need to do to secure a big win, or even how to cash in a lower prize.

Europe’s Biggest Winners

The latest win ranks as the third-largest in UK lottery history, so the UK now occupies three positions in the EuroMillions top six.

Top of the list is the €240 million payout that went to an online ticket holder from Austria in December 2023, ahead of a €230 million (£195 million) jackpot from July 2022 that was claimed by an anonymous UK player.

Third place belongs to one of the game’s most remarkable success stories - a young woman who actually purchased her entry on the Pacific Island of Tahiti, where EuroMillions is available as part of French Polynesia. She won €220 million in October 2021.

Joe and Jess Thwaite from the UK went public as the winners of a €215 million (£184 million) jackpot in May 2022, while Portugal’s biggest-ever win ranks fifth in the EuroMillions standings. Someone from Ramalde in the district of Porto pocketed €213 million in July 2024. Go to the EuroMillions Winners section to find out more about everyone in the top 10.

It remains to be seen how much more information will be disclosed about the latest UK winner, as they may decide to remain anonymous once their claim has been validated.
