Record EuroMillions Jackpot Goes to Austrian Player

Friday’s draw created a piece of EuroMillions history as one lucky ticket holder from Austria became the game’s biggest winner of all time.

A higher jackpot had never previously been offered in EuroMillions, after strong ticket sales over the past few days propelled the final figure from €220 million in Tuesday’s draw to a new record of €250 million.

The winning numbers for the draw on 28th March were 10, 21, 30, 42 and 45 with the two Lucky Stars being 1 and 9. It promised to be a magical night with such a colossal jackpot up for grabs, although the suspense continued to build as technical issues caused a delay to the release of the prize breakdown until well after midnight.

As well as the jackpot, there were winners in every other prize category and associated draws in every country which provided even more opportunities to get a big payout. See the EuroMillions Results page to find out all the statistics you need to know.

Another Record for Austria

It was eventually revealed that the jackpot-winning ticket had been sold in Austria - the 20th time that someone from the country has bagged a top prize since EuroMillions launched in 2004.

The winner now has three years to come forward and claim their money. It is unlikely that much more information will be disclosed about their story in the short term, unless they take the unusual step of going public.

If you bought a ticket for the draw and have a prize to collect, keep in mind that the claim period differs for each participating country – from 60 days in France or Luxembourg to three years in Austria.

The record for the largest EuroMillions win has kept climbing over the past few years, as rules allow for the jackpot cap to increase by €10 million each time someone scoops the maximum amount.

Remarkably, Austria has now been the scene of the two biggest wins in history. An online player from Austria had banked the previous record of €240 million in December 2023, pushing the jackpot cap up to €250 million.

As it turned out, the top prize for the latest run hit the new limit on Friday night, even though the estimated jackpot for the draw had been significantly lower at €243 million. The volume of entries submitted for the draw, right up until ticket sales closed, was responsible for the whole results process being delayed by several hours.

It only took three weeks from the Superdraw on 7th March for the jackpot to soar all the way to record territory, with nobody able to match all the numbers until now.

The big winner from Austria can now look forward to life with their newfound wealth, while other players can get ready for the next draw. The jackpot will start again at €17 million, with tickets available from authorised retailers in all nine EuroMillions countries. You can also play online.
